Independent Component 1 Approval

1. For my 30 hours I plan to work more with my mentor, yes I do not have a mentor just yet but one I am working hard on finding one. I also thought about charity work at an actual organization that raises money for children with cancer and participate in events. Or even better yet I could go and visit children with cancer at hospitals, if they let me.
2. To prove or show evidence I would take pictures of what I learn or what my experience was for the day.
3. By working with children with cancer, I think it's best I be able to start helping them on a less professional level. What I mean is that getting a chance to play or do activities with children will help me better understand their situation and the struggle they go through having cancer.

Read Stories and Donate

Read stories of childhood cancer survivors and make a change. Maybe sell lemonade, a lemonade stand. One organization is about a little girl Alex, she put up a lemonade stand to try and raise money for cancer research. It starts with one small act.

Blog 5: Project Reflection and Working EQ

1. One positive thing that has happened to me so far, is the appreciation of all working professionals. What I mean is that every job has its own work attached to it, these professionals use many skills to complete their work at the best of their capabilities. During my summer mentorship at Fullerton College Lab School, I saw many kinds of ways teachers would communicate with students. For example, Enrique an autistic student would jump around before nap time and teacher Karin would say, "Enrique we do not jump around, it's time for us to sleep." By communicating that way with Enrique, students start to figure out that they should not do that because it is wrong, helping students learn right from wrong. Before volunteering at the Lab School I would have never thought that teachers use certain techniques to teach students, appreciating what they do because working with 2,3,4,5 year olds is tough.
2. My research has opened my eyes to many things I over viewed before, such as for every one egg there must be 1/4 cup of oil to balance its textures and not ruin the cake. There are various things that must be done to achieve the cake you want.
3. What has worked so far in my senior project is the understanding of my topic, I know that at times it gets hard to understand certain information when you can't ask questions because the author is not there to answer them. But so far my information has been very direct and comprehensive.
4. What has not worked for me is finding my sources, especially since my topic does not have many easy reachable sources. When I do find my sources or research it is very helpful but finding it is very tricky. I google Cupcake articles and it gives me recipes, I don't need that! I guess I have to be more specific.
5. Darla's Cake Design is a potential mentor, I am still getting the final confirmation. Dolissismo is another potential mentor. I have to persist. "What is the fundamental strategy needed towards having a successful and running Cupcakery?", is a question I was thinking of persuing because having delicious cupcakes is not the only thing needed to run a successful Cupcakery.

1. I plan to interview Darlene Swain owner of Darla's Cake Design. Darlene Swain is a great candidate for helping me move forward with my Senior Project because she has experience in the topic she is a professional in it. Running a Cupcakery isn't an easy thing it is different from other bakeries and Darlene would help me figure out how she keeps her business going and successful.

Blog 3: Topic Choice and Semester 1 ESLR Goals

2. An Effective Learner seeks knowledge to better themselves in academics and to put that knowledge to use in real life. To portray my improvement in becoming and Effective Learner I will put my full effort into making my senior project and model assembly a success. To make both a success I will use my creativity to better my project. For example last year on our last trades how I brought in red and orange jello in a cup with crushed Oreos, green whipped cream, and a gummy worm to represent our energy source which came from the earth; our group passed these out to all who listened to our presentation.
An Effective Communicator is comprehensive, listens and adds to a group the ought conversation. To better improve and become an Effective Communicator I will be more involved in the committees available. By being a part of a committee I will better my communication skills and collaborate with others to achieve the overall goal of the committee.
An Effective User of Technology tries to improve their knowledge of the technology in our society today. To improve my skills with technology I will work on improving my typing skills and hopefully achieve the ability to type without looking at the keyboard. I will be able to type more words in a minute, this will help me do my projects and homework faster.
An Effective I-Poly Citizen is responsible in being a part of the I-Poly community meaning participating in events and giving back. To become and Effective I-Poly Citizen I will do my best to get to school on time and work closer to completing my community service hours. By doing these two things I will get closer to becoming an Effective I-Poly Citizen.
